What's on at Gwyn Hall this Autumn
As the nights draw in, Gwyn Hall is turning up the volume with an autumn programme packed with live music, comedy, famous faces and special events.
Music lovers are particularly well served. Women in Rock (11 September) kicks things off with a powerhouse celebration of female icons including Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Blondie, Joan Jett, Pink and more. October brings Cloudbusting – The Music of Kate Bush (10 October), promising favourites including Wuthering Heights, Babooshka and Running Up That Hill, followed by the symphonic rock sounds of ELO Again (17 October).
Disco devotees can head for Jive Talkin’ (23 October), the acclaimed Bee Gees tribute featuring a real-life family line-up, while The Upbeat Beatles (6 November) journey from the Cavern and Beatlemania through to Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road.
For classic soul, Under the Boardwalk (3 October) celebrates the Drifters, Temptations, Stylistics and Four Tops alongside legends including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin. November delivers Motown favourites with Sugar Pie Honey Bunch (21 November) and an explosive mix of blues and country from The Chicago Blues Brothers – Live at the Country Bunker (27 November).
There are plenty of famous faces coming to Neath this season with Gavin & Stacey favourite Larry Lamb (18 October) sharing poetry, reflections and stories from a remarkable life and acting career.
Welsh rugby legend Scott Gibbs swaps tackles for tales in An Evening with Scott Gibbs (6 November), hosted by Lee Jarvis. Then tenor Russell Watson offers an intimate evening of music and stories on 19 November.
Comedy comes courtesy of Ignacio Lopez: Nada (20 November), an improvised stand-up experiment shaped by Lopez’s quick wit and audience suggestions. Punk icon John Lydon follows on 26 November with I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right, sharing outspoken observations, career stories and audience questions.
Welsh cult favourite Twin Town returns to the big screen on 9 October with director Kevin Allen joining the audience for a post-screening Q&A.
