Running from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October, from 11am–4pm, the Cardiff Bay waterfront destination will host a different activity each day, alongside a Halloween Haunt Trail inviting families to explore Mermaid Quay on a spooky mission.

The week kicks off on Monday 26 October with Decorate Your Own Pumpkin, giving children the chance to get creative with their very own Halloween pumpkin. On Tuesday 27 October, little monsters can transform themselves with Spooky Face Painting, before getting crafty on Wednesday 28 October with Spooky Lantern Making.

Spooky Face Painting returns on Thursday 29 October, followed by Halloween Biscuit Decorating on Friday 30 October, where children can create their own frightfully tasty treats.

The week culminates on Saturday 31 October with a special Halloween Finale Event. Families are encouraged to come dressed in their spookiest costumes, get their faces painted, take on the Halloween Trail and capture some frightfully fun family photos at Mermaid Quay's spooky selfie spots.

Running alongside the daily activities throughout half-term will be the Halloween Haunt Trail, challenging young visitors to track down hidden Halloween characters around Mermaid Quay.

Families can pick up a trail form before setting off to find Halloween character stations at participating stores. Each character will reveal a secret letter, which children need to collect to uncover a mystery word. Completed trail sheets can then be handed in by Saturday 31 October to claim an official Halloween treat.

Mark Lemon, Centre Manager at Mermaid Quay, said:

"We had such a fantastic response to our free family activities over the summer, so we're really pleased to be bringing another programme of free activities to Mermaid Quay for October half-term.

"There's something different to enjoy throughout the week, whether that's decorating a pumpkin, making a spooky lantern, having your face painted or taking on our Halloween Haunt Trail. Then on Halloween itself, we're encouraging everyone to come along in their spookiest costumes and help us end the week with a fantastic finale.

"We hope families will come back throughout half-term to experience the different activities and make a day of it in Cardiff Bay, with plenty of places to eat, drink and enjoy while they're here."

The Halloween programme follows the success of Mermaid Quay's Six Weeks of Summer, which saw families head to the waterfront every Thursday during the school holidays for free nature and wildlife-inspired activities. The changing programme of workshops, crafts, games and entertainment encouraged families to return week after week, with visitors describing the activities as a "highlight" of their summer holidays and praising the opportunity to spend time together and try something new.

Located in the heart of Cardiff Bay, Mermaid Quay is home to a wide range of restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and attractions, making it easy to combine the free Halloween activities with lunch, dinner or a family day out by the waterfront.

Mermaid Quay's Halloween activities will run from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October, 11am–4pm. All activities are free to attend.
