This spring and summer, London Concertante brings five candlelit concerts to Llandaff Cathedral, offering audiences the chance to experience four distinct programmes across the season in one of Wales’ most historic spaces.

Spanning orchestral re-imaginings, operatic favourites, and classical standouts, the Llandaff series showcases London Concertante’s breadth of programming and commitment to creating immersive live music experiences beneath the cathedral’s architecture, illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight.

The season opens on Saturday 11th April 2026 with Radiohead Reimagined by Candlelight, an orchestral interpretation of music by one of Britain’s most influential bands. Drawing on material from across Radiohead’s catalogue, the concert transforms familiar songs through string textures and cinematic arrangements, offering a fresh perspective on modern classics within an acoustic setting.

Following this, London Concertante will return to Llandaff on Saturday 30th May 2026 with The Four Seasons & The Lark Ascending. Featuring Vivaldi’s much-loved Four Seasons alongside Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, these concerts bring together virtuosic solo writing and lyrical orchestral textures, celebrating nature, renewal, and the expressive power of the violin.

The series finishes on Friday 12th June 2026 with A Night At The Opera by Candlelight, celebrating some of opera’s most iconic arias, duets, and overtures. Featuring music by composers including Mozart, Puccini, and Rossini, the concert offers audiences a journey through operatic storytelling.

London Concertante is renowned for performances that combine expressive depth with accessibility, and their candlelit concerts have become a firm favourite with audiences across the UK. With over 300 performances each year, the ensemble is celebrated for bringing classical, contemporary, and crossover repertoire to life in atmospheric venues, creating immersive experiences for both seasoned concertgoers and first-time audiences.

Each Llandaff concert is designed as a relaxed and welcoming experience. Seating is unreserved within each ticket band, encouraging audiences to arrive early and enjoy the cathedral as it fills with candlelight throughout the evening.

Chris Grist, Artistic Director of London Concertante, says:

“Llandaff Cathedral is an extraordinary space to perform in, and presenting three very different programmes there allows us to really explore the range of what London Concertante does best. From re-imagined modern music to classical and opera, these concerts invite audiences to experience familiar repertoire in new and unexpected ways, all within a beautiful candlelit setting.”
