Cardiff is packed with amazing green spaces with lots of walking and cycling trails to explore.

Taff Trail 55miles/88km (walking & cycling)
Brecon Beacon to Cardiff, this long-distance trail has a mixture of riverside paths, railway paths and forest roads making it a great off-road adventure. Take a moment to stop and look and listen for wildlife, you will be surprised how much you can find.
Ely Trail 7miles/11.2km (walking & cycling)
There are many interesting historic and archaeological features along the Ely Trail from Cardiff Bay to the countryside in St Fagans. These include an Edwardian Pumping Station, the remains of a Roman Villa, and the Castle and Gardens at the National History Museum.
Rhymney Trail 2.3miles/3.6km (walking & cycling)
If you take a walk along the River you will still see many interesting buildings and features that give you clues into Cardiff ’s past. These include listed buildings with colourful histories and a church with links to the fifth century.
Nant Fawr Trail 6.2miles/10km (walking)
The Nant Fawr was once a large brook covering large areas of land and translated it means ‘The Big Brook’. It was reduced to a small stream with the erection of the Caerphilly Railway tunnel and the railway in Lisvane. Its route through the heart of the city continues to provide a green corridor for people to enjoy. It now contains a diverse collection of open spaces and hides a rich history.
Wales Coast Path 9.6miles/15.6km (walking with some sections for cycling)
This is where the coast meets the city from fantastic coastal views as you walk from Newport boundary to Cardiff Bay. The nearby popular Victorian seaside of Penarth is in easy to reach by walking across the barrage.

Upcoming Events
Forest Farm Tree Nursery Volunteering
14 & 18 June
Time: 10am – 12pm
Location: Forest Farm Country Park
What3Words Location: ///boxing.sweep.cheeks
Looking after our tree stock year-round in our nursery at Forest Farm is essential to being able to plant healthy trees across Cardiff. We need your help to complete regular tasks, such as watering and weeding, and seasonal tasks, such as lifting and bundling stock, and collecting seeds for propagation.
Over the longer term, we hope to propagate tree stock of local province by annually collecting seeds and growing them on. This will help to prevent the spread of further tree diseases and pests and create resilience within our future trees. All abilities and ages are welcome, and tools and training are provided. Email coedcaerdyddproject@cardiff.gov.uk.
