Get ready Cardiff, stage and screen favourite Claire Sweeney is bringing her deliciously devious Miss Hannigan to the capital when ANNIE arrives at the WMC from 7 July for a limited two-week run.

Beloved by generations, Annie is the ultimate feel-good family musical, and this new UK and Ireland tour promises all the sparkle, sass and heart that have made it a global sensation. Set against the backdrop of 1930s New York, the story follows brave young Annie, forced to endure a tough life under the watchful (and not-so-warm) eye of Miss Hannigan at a run-down orphanage. But Annie’s fortunes take a magical turn when she’s invited to spend a fairytale Christmas with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, much to the annoyance of Hannigan, who soon cooks up a mischievous plan to derail Annie’s search for her true family.
Known for her powerhouse stage presence and infectious charisma, Claire Sweeney is sure to deliver a Miss Hannigan packed with humour, bite and more than a hint of glittery mischief. Expect big laughs, big notes and a performance that steals the spotlight every time she stomps onto the stage.

Of course, Annie wouldn’t be complete without its legendary score, and this production comes loaded with musical theatre gold. From the defiant anthem It’s The Hard-Knock Life to the scheming swagger of Easy Street, the heartfelt charm of I Don’t Need Anything But You and the timeless optimism of Tomorrow, audiences can expect a soundtrack that will have the whole family humming all the way home.
This strictly limited Cardiff run is tipped to be one of the summer’s standout family theatre events.
