The Brecon County Show continues to draw impressive crowds, with nearly 15,000 visitors attending last year's event. Now in its 270th year, it proudly holds the title of the oldest agricultural show in the United Kingdom.

Around 300 trade stands offered a wide variety of products and experiences, ranging from country goods, artisan food and drink, and handmade cosmetics and jewellery, to vehicles, farming equipment, and family-friendly activities—making the Show a fantastic day out for all ages.

As a true celebration of agriculture, the quality and variety of livestock on display is exceptional, with over 400 cattle and sheep, 100 horses, and 200 goats—including both dairy and pygmy breeds.

One of the Show’s most thrilling spectacles is the shearing competition, which draws talented young shearers and fleece-balers from across the country. This year’s highlight includes the much-anticipated Wales vs England Shearing Test Match.

The Wye Valley Axemen and women deliver an incredible showcase of strength and skill with their competitive wood-chopping demonstrations—always a crowd favourite.

Dog lovers are well catered for with three distinct canine events. From the fiercely competitive agility course, to the lurcher and terrier trials, and the ever-popular novelty dog show—there’s something for every pet enthusiast and family.

Main Ring attractions included the jaw-dropping stunts of the Jamie Squibb Motorcycle Freestyle Team and the dramatic spectacle of the Jump Dogs Parachute Display Team.

The Brecon County Show plays a vital role in uniting the farming and rural communities. It also serves as a valuable platform for engagement, giving politicians, public bodies, educational institutions, utility providers, and charities a chance to connect directly with the public.

All of this is made possible thanks to the incredible team of volunteers who dedicate their time and expertise throughout the year, during the event, and in the vital clean-up afterwards. A huge thank you to every one of them!
