Waitress: A Slice of Musical Magic Comes to Cardiff

A feel-good favourite packed with heart, humour and unforgettable music, Waitress arrives at Wales Millennium Centre for one week only this June, starring the brilliant Carrie Hope Fletcher.

Based on the much-loved 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress serves up an irresistible story of dreams, resilience and finding the courage to start again. With music and lyrics by Grammy award-winner Sara Bareilles, the show has captivated audiences across the West End and Broadway with its warmth, wit and unforgettable score.


At its heart is Jenna, a small-town waitress and gifted pie-maker stuck in a loveless marriage, longing for something more. When a baking contest, and a charming new doctor, enter her life, everything begins to change. Supported by her loyal friends Becky and Dawn, Jenna discovers that happiness might just be within reach, if she’s brave enough to take it.


Leading the cast is Carrie Hope Fletcher, one of the UK’s most celebrated musical theatre stars, bringing warmth, charm and emotional depth to the role of Jenna. Best known for standout performances in Calamity Jane, Heathers and The Addams Family, Fletcher has built a reputation for captivating audiences with her powerful vocals and relatable stage presence. Her performance in Waitress is highly anticipated, and she brings a fresh, heartfelt energy to this much-loved character, making it a show not to be missed.

Joining Fletcher on stage are Evelyn Hoskins, Sandra Marvin and Les Dennis, bringing this uplifting story to life with humour, heart and standout performances. Created by a trailblazing female-led team, including director Diane Paulus and writer Jessie Nelson, the show has earned widespread acclaim as a “joyously life-affirming celebration of love and friendship”.
