An exciting line-up has been revealed for this year’s South Wales Comedy Festival 2023 in Merthyr Tydfil.

Top comedy stars and rising talent from across the UK will be coming to Merthyr Tydfil for the town’s annual Comedy Festival in April.

It will be a laugh a minute as 22 comedians, including stars of Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow will perform over three days between April 20 - 22nd.

The fifth Festival will feature six shows in four different venues across Merthyr Tydfil and promises thousands of laughs for comedy fans.

The BIG Friday show at Merthyr Labour Club features Macunian funny man, Mick Ferry, Welsh favourite Tudur Owen, rising star Andrew Rutledge and regular festival host, Drew Taylor.

The festival is put on by The Big Heart of Merthyr Tydfil Business Improvement District (BID).

BID Co-ordinator Elizabeth Bedford said: “We are delighted to be delivering our fifth comedy festival here in Merthyr. Our aim is to bring top-class comedy to Valley’s audiences without having to travel to nearby cities.

“The line-up will include top circuit comics and TV names, but the festival will give a platform to up-and-coming Welsh talent. The event is in true stand-up format, turning local venues into pop-up comedy clubs for the weekend”.

Our programme showcases a huge range of stand-up talent with comedy-circuit stars including:

Raymond and Mr Timpkins, Harriet Dyer, Jason Patterson, Roger Monkhouse, and Bennett Aaron plus emerging talent such as Steffan Evans, Dani Johns and Chris Chopping.

Elizabeth Bedford added “we aim to provide something for everyone including children as well as shows of a more adult nature.

“We hope comedy fans will take advantage of the weekend tickets available to enjoy the entire festival. Single show tickets are also available”

A Welsh language show for fluent Welsh speakers as well as learners promises to be great fun. Our children’s comedy show will appeal to both youngsters and parents – so there truly is something for everyone.
