Ever wanted to make your own jewellery? Whether it’s a personalised ring, a gift with meaning or just a creative day out – now you can, in a relaxed and inspiring workshop at Emma-Kate’s brand-new jewellery gallery in Cardiff.
Tucked away just off Cardiff’s bustling Wellfield Road, Emma-Kate Jewellery is a beautiful jewellery gallery filled with amazing hand-made pieces.
Behind this exciting venture is Emma-Kate Francis, a Cardiff-based silversmith and designer who’s been handcrafting jewellery since she graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2002. After moving to Cardiff in 2008, for love and a Welsh husband, Emma-Kate has poured her expertise into a flourishing design studio, and now she’s opening up her doors and tools to the public.
“People have asked me for years if I offer workshops,” says Emma-Kate. “Now that I’ve created my own gallery and dedicated workshop space, it finally feels like the perfect time.”
And perfect it is. The newly launched Emma-Kate Jewellery Workshop space is intimate, beautifully lit, and thoughtfully equipped, the ideal environment for creativity to flourish.
There are two core workshop experiences, both with a maximum of just four participants – allowing for plenty of one-to-one guidance and a truly immersive experience.
Jewellery Wax Carving Workshop
Create a personalised ring or pendant from jeweller’s wax, which is then professionally cast in solid recycled sterling silver. Your design is then hand-polished and posted back to you – ready to wear or gift. Next date: 12th July 2025, 10am–1pm
Silver Jewellery Workshop
You can choose to make three dainty stacking rings with unique textures, a wide band ring – perfect for initials or messages, earrings or a bold, elegant bangle.
Available Dates: 5th July, 9th August, 20th September, 11th October 8th & 22nd November
All classes run from 10am to 1pm
Whichever you choose, expect a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with plenty of laughter, learning and refreshments too – think locally brewed coffee, fresh juice and a few handmade bakes.
No Experience Needed – Just Enthusiasm
Worried you’ve never picked up a file or torch before? Don’t be. These workshops are completely beginner-friendly and designed for anyone aged 16+. Whether you're an eager crafter, a curious couple designing bespoke rings or friends looking for a creative experience to share, you’ll leave with a beautiful piece of solid silver jewellery and the pride of saying, “I made this.”
