Wales Millennium Centre is proud to announce the final performances of Nye, starring Wales’ own Michael Sheen.

This summer, one of the UK’s most beloved actors returns home for a final, unmissable run as one of Wales’ greatest heroes. A show that’s as joyous and funny as it is uplifting and moving.
Michael Sheen, acclaimed for his award-winning roles on stage and screen, will once again step into the shoes of Aneurin “Nye” Bevan. A passionate Welsh trailblazer who, against all odds, founded the NHS and transformed the lives of millions.
Nye was an inspirational political pioneer, a massively proud Welshman who was passionate about creating a better quality of life for the less fortunate. His story has been brought vividly to life in this imaginative, witty and emotionally moving production, a story that continues to resonate with modern audiences.
Written by Tim Price and directed by Rufus Norris, Nye is a vibrant and unexpectedly fun journey through the life of the man who made free healthcare a reality. It makes for an extremely engaging evening at the theatre – full of humour, heart and the undefeatable spirit of a man who believed in his vision for a better way of living.
Following sold-out runs and rave reviews in Cardiff and London, Nye returns to the Wales Millennium Centre’s Donald Gordon Theatre for a strictly limited engagement from 22 – 30 August 2025. This run will be the final opportunity to see this extraordinary performance by Michael Sheen on home ground.
A story Wales gave to the world - brought to life by one of its greatest storytellers. As Bevan faces the end of his life, his memories take centre stage – from his early days as a
coal miners son in Tredegar to the political clashes in Westminster that changed the future of Britain. Along the way, the audience encounters friends, foes, family and revolutionary speeches, as Nye’s past comes alive with warmth and bold theatricality.
A co-production between Wales Millennium Centre and the National Theatre, Nye is a fitting and moving tribute to a man whose vision and passion continue to shape the country.
Sheen is joined by a brilliant cast of new and returning performers, including Remy Beasley, Matthew Bulgo, Jason Hughes, Kezrena James, Tony Jayawardena, Stephanie Jacob, Rebecca Killick, Rhodri Meilir, Sharon Small, and more. Don’t miss the final chance to experience one of the most powerful Welsh stories ever told, performed by one of Wales’ finest.
